By outside help untainted!

Brightly rings that voice,

A mild mouth’s choicest music.

 

Though Hebrew may be older

And Latin more rich in learning,

Irish owes to neither

A single sound or loanword.

Què dolça la llengua del Gael   

Que dolça la llengua del Gael,

sense ajuda exterior, sense contaminació!

Sona brillantment aquella veu,

la música més escollida d'una boca suau.

 

Encara que l'hebreu pot ser més antic

i el llatí més ric en educació,

l'irlandès no li deu a cap dels dos

un sol so o mot prestat.
